Radiometric Data

Radiometric imaging was also highly successful. On the 4th of November alongside an FLIR Infrared camera for comparison, the following images of the dome were captured:

The thermal imagery clearly agrees with the infrared camera. Calibrated with reference to the cold zenith sky, the MMW imagery measured lower maximum temperatures than the IR, however this is an effect of the different resolution of the imagery.

Although the MMW image of the dome cannot compete with the higher resolution of IR wavelengths, it was gathered while the dome was obscured by cloud, a situation where the IR imager fails.

With the radiometry and associated topography measured by AVTIS, the dome was then reconstructed as a full 3D thermospatial model.
