AVTISStgSmSeveral changes had been made since the last visit to Monserrat in 2004, with a new radar source and antenna. Performance was such that the radar had doubled its maximum range from 3.5 to 7km in the 18 months between visits. This enabled a much more complete reconstruction of the Soufriere Hills than had previously been achieved with AVTIS.

The GPS positions of the corner cube reflectors and radar are used for initial alignment of each dataset to the overall GPS grid. The maximum range to natural topography recorded on this trip was 5.5km, limited only by the available lines of sight.
