Ironically the weather was exceptionally clear during our field trip, with the first cloud free views for months. Even with these clear views it can be difficult to spot the active areas as is shown in the photograph below

AVTIS was sequentially sited at three different locations around the volcano over the course of eight days. The plan was to record movement in the west flow which had reportedly been active, but it turned out that activity was confined to the newer south flow (which was only a week old)
