Collaborations

The EPR group is also part of the StAnD collaboration, between St Andrews and Dundee Universities, featuring the EPR groups of Prof. Graham Smith (Physics, St Andrews), Dr Janet Lovett (Physics/Biochemistry, St Andrews), Dr Bela Bode (Chemistry, St Andrews), Prof. David Keeble (Physics, Dundee), and Dr David Norman (Life Sciences, Dundee). This EPR grouping is one of the very largest in the UK and shares facilities, holds monthly seminars, and collaborates widely. Access to the EPR facilities in St Andrews/Dundee can be gained through collaboration with any of the StAnD groups.

The EPR group is also part of the larger Centre of Magnetic Resonance at St Andrews University that includes the NMR groups of Prof. Sharon Ashbrook and Dr Uli Schwarz-Linek in the School of Chemistry, which organises an annual meeting amongst other activities.

Recent international EPR collaborations include the Weizmann-UK ‘Making Connections‘ programme. St Andrews also played a major role in a previous EU COST Action on EPR, led by Prof. Sabine van Doorslaer (Antwerp), with Prof. Graham Smith as Deputy Chair. This included hosting two workshops and hosting and organising the 10-day 4th European Federation EPR Summer School. In June 2022, St Andrews will host the 55th International RSC EPR Meeting.

The group also collaborates extensively with Thomas Keating Ltd. who manufactures quasi-optical components and systems. The Managing Director Dr Richard Wylde is an honorary member of staff at St Andrews.
